Cascioni Eco Retreat lies in the heart of Gallura, an ancient, untouched landscape where wind-sculpted granite meets oak forests, centuries-old olive groves and a sea among the most admired in the world. A land rich in biodiversity, ancient history, rural traditions and authentic craftsmanship. Here, nature dictates the rhythm: streams winding down from Mount Limbara, golden fields stirred by the mistral, and the scents of Mediterranean scrub through the seasons.
Saloni Reserve
Between Water, Light And Silence
At the heart of our estate lies the Saloni Lagoon, a 30-hectare sanctuary where land and water meet in delicate harmony. Its tranquil waters reflect Mediterranean vegetation of heather, myrtle, cistus, helichrysum and wild lavender, forming a landscape that invites reflection. Over 180 species of birds choose this reserve as home or haven: purple herons, marsh harriers, the vivid purple swamphen. With complimentary binoculars, birdwatching becomes an intimate, privileged experience. Kayaks allow silent exploration along the canals that lead from the lagoon to the sea, following the shifting light on the water.

Our estate protects a unique botanical mosaic: Mediterranean scrub — mastic, myrtle, strawberry tree — interwoven with xerophytic species from distant lands sharing the same climate and light.
Guided by agronomist Marco Scano, the gardens adopt a naturalistic design that honours spontaneous ecological rhythms: blooms from spring to late summer, intense fragrances and colours transformed by the light. A resilient, poetic landscape, free of needless irrigation and seamlessly integrated into its surroundings.

Gallura’s air is crystal-clear, carried by sea and land breezes. A haven for bees, butterflies and countless birds.
To preserve this balance, we:
- use electric bicycles and micro-cars
- offer eco-vehicle charging stations
- generate 50% of our energy with photovoltaic systems and purchase the rest from renewables
- provide kayaks for quiet exploration
- rely on an electric van for transport
water
Our stream begins on Mount Limbara, nourishing the Saloni Lagoon before flowing to the sea.
To safeguard it, we:
- cultivate organically
- choose xerophytic plants to minimise irrigation
- reuse filtered pool water for gardens
- employ eco-compatible detergents
- promote conscious decisions, e.g., fewer linen changes
- create microplastic-free cosmetics and certified organic oil
The estate’s cosmetics, based on olive oil and natural essences, do not contain microplastics.

Sardinia is among the most ancient and unspoilt lands of the Mediterranean. Our estate protects 18 hectares of olive groves, gardens, orchards and wild vegetation.
